If you are going to purchase a cycling shoe.... make sure you know what kind of clip/pedal system your bike uses before you buy your shoes!!

Training Gear...Tools for Success in 2011 #WWKHD

Pink_new

I wanted to share one of my training weapons….. the Gymboss Interval Timer. This is one of my “must have” picks for training gear!!!!!!!! I use this in almost every workout. The timer helps me push with maximum effort…. I go-go-go until I hear the buzz! I focus on the movement and giving everything I’ve got. I set my timer for 2 repeating intervals so I can also time my rest periods.

I have the pink one shown above… don’t worry guys they have more masculine colors. Check it out and order it here http://www.gymboss.com

Use this tool to meet your goals and push yourself harder than ever in 2011!!!

Consistent hard work will pay off!!

On_the_way_to_the_gym

Wuuu today was a long day! Meetings ran longer than expected and I didn't make it to the gym until 8:15pm but I still pushed through an hour and a half of conditioning like a champ!!
Ready to call it a night. Snapped a pic of my lucky shirt lol... motivation :)

That’s how it’s done!

There are 4 items I never hit the gym without. These 4 items keep me focused and my intensity high!!!

1) Nike baseball cap

2) iPod (with training playlists)

3) HR monitor/interval timer

4) Training journal (pre-planned workouts)

I have become extremely dependent on these 4 things. When I am missing one my workouts are just not the same.

Each item plays a critical role...

The Baseball Cap- hair up and hat down low, that’s how you will find me! It prevents visual distraction and keeps my focus on ME! It keeps my hair out of the way and the sweat from pouring down my face. OK, it doesn't really stop this but it helps lol. I'm not at the gym to chat or look pretty; I am here to DO WORK!!!

The Beats- loud and fast beats equal faster and harder training.  Music doesn't make my workout easier but it triggers something and says "it’s time to work". It helps me embrace the effort I am about to give.

The Data- I am a data junky! I geek-out on technology and the power of data! I am passionate about progress, competitive to the core and have a need to collect and track every heartbeat, mile, calorie burned, etc. I set targets to keep my working hr in the right zone. I time my rest periods and my HIT intervals. The most satisfying moment of my workout is hitting the "end workout" button and reviewing my session summary. LOVE IT! This week I replaced my old HR monitor with the Suunto M5 and I am loving it (fashion and function for your wrist)!!

The Journal- There is a reason why you PLAN! The gym floor is not the place for planning... it is the place for EXECUTION!!! Pre-plan your training, execute your plan, and track your progress.

Catch me in the gym with my hair up... hat low...beats in ear...intensity high... executing the plan!! That’s how it’s done!
